Notes from Office Hours and Actions and Practices That Are Helping Us Succeed

Below are some Actions and Practices that MOR Leaders are doing...  What should you be doing now, and always?

Actions Practices
Using mute as a self-censoring tool to keep me really listening to others Language matters - practice Self Maintenance
Create a list of positive outcomes such as climate change slowing down... Practice the 20-20-20 rule to help prevent eye strain. For every 20 minutes spent looking at a screen, a person should look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
Sharing a quote:  "Dear people, your hard is hard. Other people's hard is also hard. Let's not compare hards. It's not a contest." Increased coaching / active listener role to help family and work teams stabilize
Empathy is the biggest tool. Reminding ourselves that we don't know what others experience is that day. Actual tools -- "drive-by lists" of people we might otherwise see in the hallways and want to check in with; sending real notes; using mute as a self-censoring tool to Virtual Open Office Hours for team - be available for drop ins
Have a "virtual play date" amongst our team members' children during the day Calendar time for planning and reflection each week - no matter what
Making masks and other PPE material Utilizing SLAC to reach out to team each morning to maintain connections/social touch
Check in with staff - individually.  Create "drive-by lists" of people we might otherwise see in the hallways and want to check in with - and then do it or sending real notes Using reflection to assess if habits that that we were practicing now need to change to new habits
Finding the need to do things differently Be intentionally inclusive as changes are made
It is not what you know but who you know, It is not who you know but how well you know them. Alone time - away from others in the house
